IN THE BLACK continued….. Black Mass, "a mocking of Christianity", used by devil worshippers. - And of course, there is the teenage embarrassment of Blackheads, and everyone's embarrassment of a black eye. ALSO: In the non-human world, we have black widow spiders, Black snakes, and black cats, you know what they mean??? And last but not least, sin has been described as "BLACK". HOWEVER: Black is not always bad. Black is beautiful. Some of our greatest citizens have been black. If you are financially in the black, you are considered stable, sound, and in good shape. If you are in the "red", that's bad. In the black spiritually, means one is riding high, or in the pink as some may term. Enoch occupies a small space in the Divine record, only in that very little is said about him. But it is eloquently spoken of Enoch, "He walked with God". 1. We do not know the details! 2. We do not know how he went about it? "He did it!" Evidently he lived in a day when it wasn't being done. But He did it. Enoch headed a line of worthies down through the ages who really made it their chief end to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever. Men like Abraham, Enoch was a friend of God. We have never had a super abundance of such characters, but there have always been a few. NOTE: Most of us read about it, sing of it, sigh for it, but Enoch did it!!! Enoch and those who follow in his steps, haunts us with the challenge of walking with God. McCheyne said; Men return again and again to the few who have mastered the spiritual secret, whose life has been hid with Christ in God. These are of the old time religion, who hung to the nails of the cross. The school of Enoch has persisted through the centuries, and wherever one has gone far in that school, men turn to him to learn the secret. There have always been a few souls in every generation who have caught the song of saints on higher ground. And those who have resolved to cross Jordan and dwell in Canaan land. OBSERVE: Some of them went farther than most of us can follow, some may even have gone too far. But surely, God will deal more patiently with that soul who over did in his zeal to have heaven's best, than with those who piously sing; He walks with me and He talks with me, while they make no serious effort to walk with the Lord in the light of His WORD. In the last generation there were a number of Enoch's. Men like A.J. Gordon, A.B. Simpson, D.L. Moody, Billy Sunday, William Booth, William Carey, Charles Finney, R.A.
